Angela Zhou is an actress by profession and Chinese by nationality. Raised in New Zealand, she is well known for starring in Supergirl, Promising Young Woman, and Hell on Wheels.

Angela Zhou’s birth took place on March 17, 1992, in Guangzhou, China. She was born to Chinese parents- her mother is of Hakka descent (a Chinese ethnic minority group) while her father is Cantonese. She was raised in Auckland, New Zealand, by her parents. She is the only child and has no siblings.

After high school graduation, where she discovered her love for acting, she moved to the USA. There, she studied at Duke University as a Robertson Scholar. She graduated from the same institution in 2014 with an A.B. degree majoring in Politics, Economics, and Creative Media.

Early Days

While a student in high school, Angela Zhou rarely missed the opportunity to act in musicals, dramas, and classical productions. She also trained with SGCNZ's Young Shakespeare Company at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.

After college graduation, Zhou moved to Los Angeles, where she worked odd jobs while auditioning for roles. She acted in the short films Bystander (2011) as Sarah Liu, Watch This (2013), The Passage (2014) as Cindy, The Longest Year Ever (2014) as Nicole, Locksmiths (2015) as Still Photographer, and Vying (2015). Finally, she landed the role of Fong / Mei in the TV series Hell on Wheels (2015-2016), which gained her recognition.

Films, TV Series

Over the years, Angela Zhou has appeared in the TV series Stitchers (2016-2017) as Coco Soo, Supergirl (2018) as Dr. Grace Parker, MacGyver (2020) as Jennifer Kwok, and Death and Other Details (2024). She portrayed the role of Tori Lang in the short film Canary in a Coal Mine (2018), which she also wrote and produced.

Her debut film appearance is in the film Promising Young Woman (2020) as Todd.
