Adley Rutschman – Career

College Career

After graduating from high school, Adley Rutschman was selected in the 40th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft by the Seattle Mariners. But he did not sign with the Seattle Mariners and instead attended Oregon State University where he played for Oregon State Beavers

In his freshman year, he played as a placekicker in 61 games, hitting .234/.322/.306 with two home runs and 33 runs batted in (RBI). In 2018, which was his sophomore year, his team won the 2018 College World Series. Adley Rutschman had 17 hits and 13 RBI in the series.

He was also named College World Series Most Outstanding Player.

Professional career

Rutschman was selected with the first overall selection in the 2019 MLB draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He was named 2019’s Pac-12 Conference Baseball Player of the Year and Collegiate Baseball Player of the Year.
