After graduating from college, Brockdorff joined the British Army’s cavalry regiment, the Queen's Royal Hussars. In 2008, he was commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and in 2014, he left the armed forces. During his time as an officer, Alex Brockdorff served in combat operations both in Iraq and Afghanistan.

After leaving the army, he shortened his name to Alex Brockdorff and started his career as an actor. He joined forces with former military colleagues to create a company providing military support to the Film and television industry called Bare Arms.

In his early days as an actor, Brockdorff worked as a model as well as in commercials. His debut screen appearance was as a young British Officer in an episode of the TV mini-series Our World War.

This was followed by minor roles in the films Fury (2014), Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), Warfare (2025), and in the episode(s) of the TV series Requiem (2018), Baghdad Central (2020), Homeland (2020), FBI: International (2021), The Midwich Cuckoos (2022), Citadel (2023), Jesus Crown of Thorns (2025) etc.

Moreover, Alex Brockdorff has also portrayed characters in the short films Slaved (2016), Vauxhall (2018), He Served the Empire (2019), Tramples the Murderhorse (2021), Voices (2021), Bushwhacker Blues (2021), Predator Shellshock, among others.
