Alice Braga’s birth took place on April 15, 1983, in São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil. She was born Alice Braga Moraes to her mother Ana M. Braga, an actress, and her father Nico Moraes, a TV director. She is not the only child of her parents and has s sibling, a sister named Rita Moraes. 

She also has other famous members of her family- she is the niece of Sônia Braga, Júlio Braga, Hélio Braga, and Maria Braga.

Braga was in a relationship with her boyfriend Diego Luna from 2004 to 2005. In early 2019, she was rumored to be dating actress Bianca Comparato, which has not been addressed nor confirmed by Alice Braga. However, it was later confirmed that she and Comparato had begun dating in 2017.

Early Career

Braga followed in her mother and aunt’s footsteps at a very young age. Growing up she accompanied them to film sets and soon she herself began to appear in school plays and commercials. She had landed her first commercial gig at the age of 8 – in a yogurt commercial.

Her first role was in the short film Trampolim (1998). Finally, in 2002, she landed the role of Angélica in City of God. After her national breakthrough, she went on to star in Only God Knows (2006), Journey to the End of the Night (2006), etc.

Finally, in 2007 she received international attention for her role in I Am Legend.

Since her international fame, Alice Braga has portrayed roles in films Crossing Over (2009), Predators (2010), On the Road (2012), Kill Me Three Times (2014), The Shack (2017), The New Mutants (2020), The Suicide Squad (2012), among others.

Currently, she is also starring in Queen of the South as Teresa Mendoza since 2016 and in Samantha! as Samantha with Y since 2018.

On The New Mutants, Alice Braga has worked with Colbi Gannett, Blu Hunt, and Charlie Heaton. 

She also co-starred with Jai Courtney, Storm Reid, Mayling Ng, Michael Rooker, and Jennifer Holland in The Suicide Squad.
