Annabelle Neilson – Age, Parents, Siblings

Annabelle Neilson was born on March 31, 1969, in London, England to a rich British aristocratic family. Her parents are Max Neilson, an investment and property advisor, and Marquesa Elizabeth Neilson, an interior designer. 

Neilson’s grandmother was the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother’s second cousin. She was raised between West London and Oxfordshire with a sister, named Millie Neilson.

Education, Ethnicity

As for education, Annabelle Neilson attended a private school. But at the age of 16, she dropped out due to bullying because of severe dyslexia.

Annabelle Neilson – Horrific Assault, Drug addiction

Neilson moved to Perth, Australia as a dropout. There she fell victim to a horrific assault. A man had tried her to a tree and she was beaten for hours. Years later in a 2015 interview with Daily Mail, she shared her story,

“The attack lasted for two hours. I was tied to a tree and continually beaten. I looked like the elephant girl by the end of it. I managed to escape with my life but I needed reconstructive surgery because my face was so disfigured. 

After that, I fell into a serious depression and became a heroin addict because it provided an escape bubble and was the only way I could cope. In a way, heroin saved me because otherwise, I would have killed myself.” 

The man was later arrested and convicted for the murder of three other women.

In her later teens, Neilson struggled again, this time with drug addiction. The addiction was brought on by the previous attack she had endured. With effort, she overcame her addiction becoming sober in her twenties. For the rest of her life, she remained sober.

Annabelle Neilson – Boyfriend, Husband, Divorce, Children

Annabelle Neilson met Nat Rothschild, a British banker, and son of Jacob Rothschild. They started dating in the 1990s. After four years of relationship, they eloped in 1994 to Las Vegas and got married. Neilson was 26 years old when she married Rothschild. She had told the Daily Mail,

“Nat and I had been together for four years and I was 26 when I married him. He first asked me to marry him half an hour after we met and then every day afterwards. Finally, we decided to do it.”

But soon after marriage, there emerged previously unseen problems. The couple divorced in 1997, after three years of marriage. They did not have any children.

She went on to date Lord Edward Spencer-Churchill but did not stay committed to the relationship.

Annabelle Neilson – Career

Neilson started her career as a model and was best friends with Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. She was also friends with Poppy Delevingne, Jude Law, Richard Branson, and Kimi Hammerstroem. 

Annabelle Neilson was cast in Bravo TV’s Ladies of London, a reality show which followed the lives of six ladies from Aristocratic families. She starred in the series for a total of two seasons. Other casts are Caprice Bourret, Caroline Stanbury, Juliet Angus, Marissa Hermer, Noelle Reno, Julie Montagu, Caroline Fleming, and Sophie Stanbury.

In addition, Neilson is also a writer and had written several children’s books. Her books include Angry me (2015), The Curious Tale of Fi-Rex (2015), Messy Me (2016), and Dreamy Me (2016).

Annabelle Neilson – Relationship with Alexander McQueen

Among all her work and relationships, Neilson was known to be exceptionally close to Alexander McQueen, the late fashion designer. She was known as his muse and was the last person to see him alive before his death by suicide on February 11, 2010. His death had devastated her.

They lived together, with a dog, a relationship she best described as “marriage without sex”. In the same interview with Daily Mail, she shared,

“He was my brother, my boyfriend, my soulmate. Most of the time people called me Mrs. McQueen. Quite often we were sharing a bed. Lee had been through similar pain. He understood me; we understood each other. The truth is I was happier with Lee than with anyone else. He asked me to marry him towards the end and I said no. I wish now that I had said yes.”

Annabelle Neilson – Chronic injury

Annabelle Neilson loved horse racing and was an avid horse racer. In 2013, she was thrown off the saddle and suffered severe injuries. After 12 weeks of medical treatment, Neilson was able to walk again but was told by doctors that she would never ride again. Following the incident, she suffered from chronic pain.

Remembering the incident, She had told the Daily Mail,

“I remember seeing the glint of a silver car and the horse getting spooked and jumping. The next second I was flat on my back in the mud. The pain was horrendous and I started having convulsions. Worst of all, I couldn’t move my legs and I thought, ‘This is it, I’m paralyzed.’

Neilson continued,

“The truth is I was happiest when I was training. I love the connection with these great animals and, although I grew up riding, racing is completely different.”

Annabelle Neilson – Untimely death

Neilson’s death shocked the world. She was found dead on July 12, 2018, in London. She was 49. The cause of her death was found to be a heart attack.
