Who is Anthony Ramos?

Anthony Ramos is an actor, singer by profession, and American by nationality. He is well known for his role in the Broadway musical Hamilton, in the films A Star Is Born, and TV series She's Gotta Have It.

Anthony Ramos’ birth took place on November 1, 1991, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. He was born Anthony Ramos Martinez to parents of Puerto Rican descent. His mother Mildred Ramos raised him and his two siblings – an older brother Mario Martinez and a younger sister named Stephanie Ramos. 

Education, Ethnicity

For education, Anthony Ramos attended Halsey Junior High School and graduated from the New Utrecht High School in 2009. He went on to attend American Musical and Dramatic Academy on a full scholarship. In 2011, he graduated from the same from its musical theatre program.

His ethnicity is Puerto Rican.

Anthony Ramos – Girlfriend, Wife, Children

Anthony Ramos has been in a relationship with his girlfriend Jasmine Cephas Jones since early 2015. Jones is his fellow Hamilton original cast member and had first met during rehearsals for the Off-Broadway production at The Public Theater. 

After years of dating the couple got engaged on December 24, 2018. He and his fiancée currently reside in Brooklyn and are making plans to tie the knot. They do not have any children together.

However, in November 2021, it was reported that the pair had broken up after six years together.

Currently, he is single, sans wife and children.

Theatre

After Anthony Ramos started his career in 2011, he landed numerous roles in regional and touring musical productions including that of Sonny de la Vega in In the Heights (2012). After starring in the off-Broadway production of Hamilton at The Public Theater, he portrayed Justin Laboy in the short musical 21 Chump Street (2014).

In early 2015 Hamilton opened off-Broadway and the musical moved to Broadway on July 13, 2015. He left the production in November 2016 and returned to In the Heights in 2018 as Usnavi de la Vega.

Over the years Ramos has starred in a series of films such as Monsters and Men (2018), A Star Is Born (2018), Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019), Honest Thief (2020), In the Heights (2021). He has also had guest appearances on the episode(s) of the TV series Younger (2015), Will & Grace (2017-2018), and She's Gotta Have It (2017-2019).

As a musician, Anthony Ramos has released the studio album The Good & the Bad (2019), an extended play (EP) The Freedom EP (2018), and half a dozen singles. He has also worked on the soundtrack of 21 Chump Street, Hamilton, and Trolls World Tour.
