Ashton Sanders is an actor by profession and American by nationality. He is best known for portraying Teen Chiron in the 2016 film Moonlight, which won the Academy Award. Other appearances include in films Native Son, All Day and a Night, and Untitled Fred Hampton project.

Early Days

Growing up in an African-American community Ashton Sanders had a hard time expressing his artistic side as most were into sports. His debut role was in the short film Making Possibilities (2012) followed by roles in The Retrieval (2013) as Will and in a minor role in 2015’s Straight Outta Compton. 

Finally, in 2016 Sanders was cast as teen Chiron in Moonlight, which is his breakthrough role.

Since then Ashton Sanders has portrayed characters in numerous movies The Equalizer 2 (2018), The Kids Are Alright (2018), Native Son (2019), Captive State (2019), All Day and a Night (2020), and Untitled Fred Hampton project. Moreover, he has also had an appearance on the TV series The Skinny (2016) as Tyler and is a series regular in Wu-Tang: An American Saga as Bobby/The RZA.
