Who is August Alsina?
August Alsina is an R&B, hip hop singer by profession and American by nationality. He rose to fame with the single I Luv This Shit and studio album Testimony.

August Alsina’s birth took place on September 3, 1992, in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He was born as August Anthony Alsina Jr. to parents Sheila Alsina and August Alsina Sr.
He is not the only child of his mother and has four siblings – brothers Melvin La'Branch III, Jamal La'Branch, Travis La'Branch, and sister Netia La'Branch. He had started attending high school in New Orleans.

Education, Ethnicity
Both his father and stepfather were crack cocaine addicts. So after 2005, his mother moved them to Houston, Texas for a fresh start. August Alsina’s father died soon after and he began to have disagreements with his mother. Due to this, his mother kicked him out at some point and his older brother Melvin was the one who took care of him.
Alsina’s older brother Melvin La'Branch III was shot fatally on August 31, 2010.
August Alsina was educated at Worthing High School. His ethnicity is African-American.
August Alsina – Girlfriend, Relationship, Children
Alsina was in a relationship with his girlfriend Analicia Chaves, a model. They had begun dating in April 2014 and had broken up in June 2014. He is rumored to have been in a relationship with Miracle Watts, Nicki Minaj, Kayla Phillips, Mandy Williams, and even Jada Pinkett Smith.
Currently, he is believed to be single but a secret romance cannot be ruled out.
August Alsina also looks after his brother Melvin’s children, three daughters he left behind. He looks after his nieces as if they were his own children after their mother, Chandra passed away in 2018 due to cancer.

August Alsina – Career
Early Career
Alsina began uploading videos to YouTube in 2007. Although his family was not musically inclined, he drew inspiration to sing from Lauryn Hill. After his brother’s death in 2010, he began to take music seriously and relocated to Atlanta in 2011. There he was noticed by the American management and production company NNTME MuCo, also known as Noontime.

Mixtapes, Albums
In April 2012 August Alsina released his first mixtape titled The Product followed by the single I Luv This Shit featuring Trinidad James in January 2013. And in May 2013 he released another mixtape The Product 2.
With initial success, his first EP, Downtown: Life Under the Gun was released on August 20, 2013, and contained hit songs Ghetto, and Make It Home. He soon released the studio album Testimony on April 15, 2014. He opened Usher’s The UR Experience Tour in 2014.
His second studio album, This Thing Called Life, which was released on December 11, 2015, debuted at number 14 on the Billboard 200. His upcoming album Drugs is under construction and is to be released soon.

In 2015 it was reported that August Alsina has a degenerative eye disease and in 2014 was hospitalized for seizures.
In July 2019 he shared on Instagram that he has been hospitalized after losing the ability to walk due to an autoimmune disease. August Alsina revealed in 2017 that he suffers from an autoimmune disease that attacks his liver.
