Who is Bad Bunny?

Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, is a Latin trap and reggaeton singer by profession and American, Puerto Rican by nationality. He is well known for his singles I Like It, Mia and debut album X 100pre.

Bad Bunny’s birth took place on March 10, 1994, in Almirante Sur, Vega Baja, Puerto Rico. He was born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio and raised by his father Benito Martinez, who worked as a truck driver, and his mother Lysaurie Ocasio Declet, who was a school teacher.

He is not the only child of his parents and has two younger siblings- brothers Bernie Martínez Ocasio (born 1997) and Bysael Martínez Ocasio (born 2002).

Growing up Bad Bunny’s mother took him to church and there his talent for singing was noticed for the first time.

He was educated at the University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo in audiovisual communication and began singing at the age of 5.

He was in a romantic relationship with his girlfriend Cazzu, who is an Argentinian rapper. However, the couple seems to have broken up. 

In April 2019 it was rumored that he was dating singer Rosalia after he shared their Coachella picture. Rosalia addressed the rumors stating Bad Bunny is a ‘Good Friend’.

In May 2020 it was reported that he was dating Gabriela Berlingeri. Bad Bunny is yet to marry, take a wife, and have children.

Early Career

While working as a bagger at Supermercados Econo, Vega Baja released his music on SoundCloud as an independent artist. His song Diles was a hit that caught the attention of DJ Luian and signed him to his record label, Hear this Music.

His breakthrough single Soy Peor established Bad Bunny as a Latin American trap artist. Since then he has released singles Mayores, Tu No Metes Cabra, Te Boté, and Sensualidad which climbed the Hot Latin Songs chart.

International breakthrough

In the international arena, Bad Bunny’s singe I Like It, collaborated with Cardi B and J Balvi reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He also collaborated with Drake on the single Mia, released in October 2018. It reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100.

His song Te Guste with Jennifer Lopez was released on November 2018. Bad Bunny released his debut album X 100pre in December 2018 followed by Oasis (with J Balvin) in June 2019.

Bad Bunny has worked with national as well as international music artists including Prince Royce, Ozuna, Nicky Jam, Becky G, etc.
