Who is Barbara Corcoran?
Barbara Corcoran is a businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality by profession, and American by nationality. She is well known for her work in ABC's Shark Tank as a "Shark" investor and in season 25 of Dancing With The Stars.

Barbara Corcoran’s birth took place on March 10, 1949, in Edgewater, New Jersey, USA. She was born Barbara Ann Corcoran to her father Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. and her mother Florence Corcoran.
Her parents raised her alongside her nine siblings- one older and eight younger. A brother of hers died in a Dominican Republic hotel in June 2019. Growing up in a family of 12 struggled to make ends meet. Her father was frequently fired from his job since he didn’t obey his boss’ orders and she started working from an early age.

For education, Corcoran attended St. Cecilia High School and transferred to Leonia High School. She then enrolled in St. Thomas Aquinas College, graduating in 1971 with a degree in education.

Barbara Corcoran married her longtime boyfriend Bill Higgins on 14 February 1988. Higgins is a retired Navy captain and a former F.B.I. agent.
She and her husband have two children together. Their son Tom was born in 1994 via in-vitro fertilization with an egg donated by her sister. The couple adopted their second child, daughter Katie.
As of 2019, the couple is living happily without rumors of extra-marital affairs or divorce.

In real estate
After graduation, Barbara Corcoran taught in a school for a year. She soon moved on to working various jobs which included waitressing and renting apartments in New York City. By the age of 23, she had already worked 20 different jobs.
In 1973 along with her boyfriend, she co-founded a real estate business called The Corcoran-Simonè. Ramon Simonè had contributed a $1,000 loan to her in 1973. After 7 years the couple broke up and she founded her own firm The Corcoran Group.

In the mid-1970s Barbara Corcoran began covering real estate data trends in New York City which she published under the name The Corcoran Report. Soon enough her business began to bloom. Corcoran sold her company to NRT Incorporated in 2001 for $66 million.
Moreover, she is a real estate contributor to NBC's Today Show.
