Barbara Niven’s birth took place on February 26, 1953, in Portland, Oregon, USA. She was born Barbara Lee Bucholz to her mother Edie Bucholz and her father George Bucholz. She is not the only child of her parents and has two siblings- sisters Shelley and Kim.

For education she attended David Douglas High School and after graduation took acting classes at Beverly Hills Playhouse.

In the TV series, Niven has had guest appearances on Wings (1992), The Bold and the Beautiful (1996), Silk Stalkings (1993-1998), Love Boat: The Next Wave (1999), and NCIS (2005). She is a series regular in Pensacola: Wings of Gold (1998-2000), and Cedar Cove (2013-2015).

Moreover, Barbara Niven has starred in several TV films. She has had roles in more than 14 Lifetime movies including A Perfect Ending (2012), and Moonlight and Mistletoe (2008), to name a few.
