Barry Keoghan is an actor by profession and Irish by nationality. He is well known for starring in Dunkirk, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Trespass Against Us, and Love/Hate.

Barry Keoghan’s birth took place on 18 October 1992 in Summerhill, Dublin, Ireland. Growing up, he had a difficult childhood. His Marie Keoghan mother was addicted to heroin and passed away when he was 12 years old. Not much is known about his father, Alderwell Keoghan.

So he and his sibling, older brother Eric Keoghan, were raised in the foster care system – in 13 different homes. Keoghan was eventually raised by his maternal grandmother and aunt.

Education, Ethnicity

After graduating from O'Connell Secondary School and high school, Barry Keoghan studied acting at a local Dublin school named The Factory.

His ethnicity is Irish.

Barry Keoghan was in a relationship with actress Shona Guerin. He and his girlfriend dated from 2017 before eventually breaking up.

He went on to date Alyson Sandro and welcomed a child with her partner in August 2022. They named their son Brando Keoghan.

Keoghan was briefly linked to singer Sabrina Carpenter. They were romantically linked from late 2023 to December 2024.

He is currently believed to be single, sans a wife.

Barry Keoghan – Career

Early Days

While a student at school, Barry Keoghan appeared in school plays. He started his career as a professional actor in 2011 after answering an advertisement for Between the Canals. He portrayed Aido in the film, and at the age of 18, he made an appearance in the TV soap opera Fair City.

Finally, in 2013, Barry Keoghan was cast as the "infamous cat killer" Wayne on Love/Hate, which gained him recognition in Ireland. This was followed by roles in the films Mammal and Trespass Against Us in 2016.

Over the years, Keoghan has portrayed characters in over two dozen films. Some are The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), Dunkirk (2017), American Animals (2018), Calm With Horses (2019), The Green Knight (2020), The Eternals (2021), Saltburn (2023), Bird (2024), Bring Them Down (2024), Hurry Up Tomorrow (2025). 

Barry Keoghan has also had guest appearances in the TV series Rebellion (2016), Chernobyl (2019), Living With Lucy (2019), Top Boy (2023), etc.

He is also an amateur boxer, representing the Celtic Core, and is an ambassador for Dior.
