Benjamin Bratt’s birth took place on December 16, 1963, in San Francisco, California, U.S.A. His full name is Benjamin George Bratt. His mother Eldy Banda worked as a nurse and activist while his father Peter Bratt Sr. worked as a sheet metal worker. 

He has four other siblings, him being the third oldest. Bratt’s sister’s names are Nadya Bratt and Georgia Bratt and his older brother’s name is Peter Bratt, now a film writer and director. The name of his other siblings is still a mystery.

For education, Benjamin Bratt attended Lowell High School in San Francisco. After graduation, he enrolled at the University of California, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in fine Arts. Bratt also did attend American Conservatory Theater’s M.F.A. program for a short while before leaving to star in the 1987 film Juarez.

Bratt has been romantically linked to several high-profile women in Hollywood. He was the boyfriend of documentary filmmaker Monika from 1990 to 1996. He then went on to date actress Jennifer Esposito in 1996 but broke off things only 8 months later.

Benjamin Bratt dated one of the most gorgeous women on the planet, Julia Roberts, the aunt of actress Emma Roberts. In 1998, they became the “A-list” celebrity couple and were the talk of Hollywood when he escorted Roberts to the 2001 Academy Awards. The couple dated for four years from 1197 to 2001 and were even engaged to be married.

But the entire relationship and engagement soon ended, and Bratt’s girlfriend Roberts became his ex-girlfriend.

In 1993, Bratt met actress Talisa Soto while casting an audition for Blood In Blood Out. Since then they were in an “on and off again relationship.” But it was not until 2001, their relationship became serious, and began dating in 2002.

The couple married on April 13, 2002, in San Francisco and they welcomed their first child on December 6, 2002, and named their daughter Sophia Rosalinda Bratt. Benjamin Bratt became a father for the second time when Soto gave birth to their son Mateo Bravery Bratt on October 3, 2005.

Benjamin Bratt then went on to star in One Good Cop (1991), Demolition Man (1993), The River Wild (1994), The Next Best Thing  (2000), Miss Congeniality (2000), Cat woman (2004), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009), Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013), Snitch (2013), Despicable Me 2 (2013), Justice League: Gods and Monsters (2015), Doctor Strange (2016), Coco (2017), among others.

In the world of TV series, Benjamin Bratt has starred in Knightwatch (1988–1989), Homicide: Life on the Street (1996–1999), E-Ring (2005-2006), The Cleaner (2008-2009), Modern Family (2010-present), Private Practice (2011-2013), 24: Live Another Day (2014), Star (2016-2018), etc.
