Brian Tyree Henry’s birth took place on March 31, 1982, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA. He was born to his mother Willow Dean Kearse, an educator while the identity of his father, who was in the military is not known. He is not the only child of his parents and has four siblings, who are all older sisters.
His mother was killed in a car accident in May 2016.

He eventually made guest appearances on the TV series Law & Order (2009), The Good Wife (2010), Boardwalk Empire (2013), and in the film Puerto Ricans in Paris (2015). Finally, in 2016 he was cast as Alfred "Paper Boi" Miles in the hit series Atlanta.

Since his breakthrough role, Brian Tyree Henry also has had appearances on the TV series Vice Principals (2016-2017), This Is Us (2017), and Drunk History (2018), among others.
In recent years Henry has found much success in films rather than in TV series. He has portrayed characters in films Crown Heights (2017), Irreplaceable You (2018), Widows (2018), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), and Joker (2019).
