Carrie Coon is an actress by profession and American by nationality. She is well known for starring in The Leftovers as Nora Durst, as Gloria Burgle in Fargo, as Vera Walker in The Sinner, and in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.

Carrie Coon’s birth took place on January 24, 1981, in Copley, Ohio, USA. She was born as Carrie Alexandra Coon to mother Paula Coon and father John Coon. 

She is not the only child of her parents and has 4 siblings an older sister, an older brother, and two younger brothers. One of her brothers is named Josh Coon.

Education, Ethnicity

For education she attended Copley High School, graduating from the same in 1999. Carrie Coon went on to attend the University of Mount Union, graduating with a B.A. in English and Spanish in 2003. To further her academics Coon earned her M.F.A. in Acting from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2006.

Her ethnicity includes German, English, French, and Slovak-Hungarian.

Carrie Coon married her longtime boyfriend Tracy Letts, a playwright in September 2013. She and her husband have a child together- son Haskell Letts, who was born on March 13, 2018.

Early Career

Carrie Coon began her career as an actress in regional theater and immediately following graduation she was recruited by the Madison Repertory Theatre. Soon after her professional stage debut in a production of Our Town, she joined the American Players Theatre. She stayed with them for four seasons.

Coon’s breakthrough came in 2010 as Honey in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, earning her a Tony Award nomination.

Since then Carrie Coon has starred in films Gone Girl (2014), Strange Weather (2016), Izzy Gets the F*ck Across Town (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2020) and the upcoming film The Nest.

Moreover, she has had guest appearances in TV series The Playboy Club (2011), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit  (2013), Ironside (2013), The Leftovers (2014-2017), Fargo (2017), and The Sinner (2018).
