She is not the only child of her parents and has 4 siblings an older sister, an older brother, and two younger brothers. One of her brothers is named Josh Coon.

Early Career
Carrie Coon began her career as an actress in regional theater and immediately following graduation she was recruited by the Madison Repertory Theatre. Soon after her professional stage debut in a production of Our Town, she joined the American Players Theatre. She stayed with them for four seasons.
Coon’s breakthrough came in 2010 as Honey in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, earning her a Tony Award nomination.
