Who is Chandler Powell?

Chandler Powell is a wakeboarder, Zookeeper by profession, and American by nationality. He is the husband of wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin, daughter of later Australian zookeeper and television personality Steve Irwin, a.ka. The Crocodile Hunter and Terri Irwin.

Chandler Powell’s birth took place on November 14, 1996, in Seffner, Florida, USA. He was born to his father Chris Powell, a wakeboarder, and his mother Shannan Powell. He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, a brother named Cameron Powell.

After completing high school, he attended the University of Central Florida and majored in Marketing and minored in International Business. His ethnicity is Caucasian.

Chandler Powell – Girlfriend, Wife, Children, Divorce

According to Chandler Powell’s grandfather John DiCenzo, Powell was "obsessed" with the Irwin family, especially Steve Irwin, whom he watched on TV as a kid. Finally, in late 2013 he was able to meet and spend some time with the  Irwin family while visiting Australia Zoo.

After receiving permission from zoo authorities and Terri Irwin, he began to write letters to Bindi Irwin in an old-fashioned way. Both loved to travel and soon their friendship turned to love. According to his girlfriend Bindi, it was hard for her to say exactly "when it turned into more".

The couple made their relationship official in September 2015. At that time Bindi was shooting season 21 of Dancing with the Stars, which she later went on to win. Since then there have been rumors about them being married. In March 2018 they participated in the annual wife-carrying competition at the Australia Zoo, which sparked rumors.

The rumors caught fire when Terri Irwin shared the couple’s picture on Twitter and commented that her daughter had been kissing frogs since she was a child, and it had finally paid off. A month later it was reported that they had moved in together. 

After years of speculations and rumors, the couple announced their engagement via social media on July 24, 2019. They married on March 25, 2020. In August of the same year, it was revealed that they were pregnant with their first child. He and his wife welcomed daughter Grace Warrior Irwin Powell on March 28, 2021.

Chandler Powell – Career

Chandler Powell started skateboarding when he was only 4 years old. As he grew older and his skateboarding skills got better, he began to earn sponsorships. He also began to make videos of his performances. 

Aged 15 Powell began to participate in tournaments around the country and abroad including China, Abu Dhabi, the Philippines, Australia, and Thailand.

Over the years Chandler Powell has finished in the top 3 in the 'Wake Park World Series and was named among the 20 most promising wakeboarders under 20 by 'Outsiders Online. Moreover, he has been featured on the cover of 'Wake Journal Issue 189, and the Winter 2015 issue of 'Crikey!'.

Since his relationship with Bindi began, Chandler Powell has been involved with the Australian Zoo and has now earned a khaki Australia Zoo uniform.
