Chess Lopez is an actress, dancer by profession, and American by nationality. She is best known for appearing in the MCU film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as Amalia Chavez and in the TV movie The Burbs as Nat.

Chess Lopez was born in New York City, United States. Her mother’s name is Susan Lopez and her father’s name is Ralph Lopez, who turned 82 in March 2021. Her parents, who both practice yoga, raised her alongside her siblings- four older sisters.

Alongside her sisters, Chess Lopez learned ballet from a young age. She eventually joined The Conservatory of Dance at Purchase College where she earned a B.F.A. in dance.

Early Days

While at Purchase College, she trained in numerous dancing techniques such as the Graham technique, the Cunningham technique, contemporary modern dance, improvisation, and composition. She then went on to work as a dancer in NYC Burgos, Spain, and Taipei, Taiwan.

Lopez attended The William Esper Studio located in Manhattan where she learned the Meisner technique.

Chess Lopez's debut role was in the 2019 short film Hey Stranger as Charlie. Since then she has starred in the TV movie The Burbs (2019) as Nat, in the short film Kely (2020) as Kely, and in EZ Livin' (2022) as Healer. Her most famous role, which is also her debut film role, is as Amalia Chavez in the 2022 Marvel Comic Universe (MCU) film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
