Colin Donnell is an actor, singer by profession, and American by nationality. He is well known for starring in Anything Goes as Billy Crocker, Arrow as Tommy Merlyn, The Affair as Scotty Lockhart, and Chicago Med as Connor Rhodes.

Colin Donnell’s birth took place on October 9, 1982, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. He was born Colin C. Donnell to her French mother Francoise Donnell and her Irish father Ben Donnell. 

He is not the only child of his parents and his siblings, two older brothers named Ryan Donnell and Jason Donnell.

For education, Colin Donnell attended Kirkwood High School where he was part of the choir and did background juggling and circus tricks. After graduation in 2001, he went on to study at Indiana University. Donnell graduated from the same in 2005.

Colin Donnell began a romantic relationship with actress Patti Murin in 2013, having worked together in a musical adaptation of Love's Labour's Lost. After more than a year of dating, he and his longtime girlfriend became engaged in December 2014 and married in New York City on June 19, 2015.

He and his wife welcomed a child, a daughter named Cecily Philips Donnell on July 14, 2020. Moreover, in October 2022, they announced they were expecting a second child together, due to be born in April 2023. Their daughter Colin Donnell was born in April 2023.

Early Career

Having a keen interest in acting, performance, and theater from a young age, Colin Donnell started his career as an actress soon after graduation in 2005. His first was in the theater production of Jersey Boys (2005-2007), followed by Jesus Christ Superstar (2006), Mamma Mia! (2007), Wicked (2009), and Johnny Baseball (2010).

In 2011 Colin Donnell began working in films and TV series where he portrayed characters. One of his first roles was Mike Ruskin in the 4 episode of the series Pan Am.

Finally, in 2012, Colin Donnell landed his breakthrough role of Tommy Merlyn in the superhero TV series Arrow. This was followed by roles in The Affair (2014-2015), Chicago Med (2015-2019), Chicago Fire (2016-2019), and Chicago P.D. (2016-2019).

Moreover, Donnell has starred in Anything Goes (2011-2012), Violet (2014), Lady, Be Good (2015), Holiday Inn (2015), and Almost Famous  (2019), among others.
