Who is Cortney Novogratz?

Cortney Novogratz is a TV show host, reality TV star, designer by profession, and American by nationality. With her husband Robert, they hosts TV shows Bravo's 9 by Design and HGTV's Home by Novogratz. 

Cortney Novogratz – Birth, Parents, Siblings

Cortney Novogratz was born on September 8, 1971, in Columbus, Georgia, USA. Not much is known about her parents or what her mother and father did for a living. Nevertheless, she has shared details of her four siblings. 

Her older brother, Roger, and her oldest sister, Viki, still live in Georgia, while her middle sister, Nicole, died in a car wreck during her sophomore year in college. Her other sister, Brandi, who is just three years older, is now a psychologist and lives just four blocks away from Cortney.

For education, Cortney Novogratz went to study at Hardaway High School. Following graduation, she attended Lynn University.

Her ethnicity includes Austrian, French, and German.

Cortney Novogratz met Robert at a party in Charlotte, North Carolina, in 1992. Back then, she was an aspiring actress waiting tables and still in college, while he was a stockbroker. After several months of dating, they moved in together in New York City in 1993 and continued to work on their own individual career. 

While househunting, they bought their first one on 19th Street in Manhattan. She married her longtime boyfriend on June 8th, 1997, in Upatoi, Georgia, at her parents’ house. 

With her husband, she has seven children- sons Wolfgang Novogratz (born 1997), Breaker Novogratz (born 2001), twins Holleder Novogratz and Five Novogratz (born 2006), Major Novogratz (born 2009), and twin daughters Bellamy Novogratz and Tullulah Novogratz (born 1999).

Wolfgang is now an actor, while Breaker is an actor/musician and studies at New York University. Their daughter, Bellamy, is expecting a child in 2026.

Currently, the couple seems to be happy in their marriage. Also, there is no news of divorce or extra-marital affairs surrounding the pair.

Cortney Novogratz – Career

Early Days

Cortney Novogratz was an aspiring actress and college student living in North Carolina. After she and Robert bought the cheapest house on 19th Street in Manhattan and renovated it, they rented the bottom of their Manhattan building to get enough rent to pay their mortgage. But after a celebrity wanted to rent the top portion of the building for three times the mortgage, they moved downstairs to the garden apartment.

Renovation, Design

The couple continued to renovate run-down properties in Manhattan and sell them for profit. Their interest in interior design grew as they indulged in their new profession. So they added hints of rare collectibles they bought while traveling to flea markets around the world into their designs, which gave them distinctive architectural details and finishing. Robert and Cortney Novogratz couple, eventually opened their own design firm- Sixx Design.

In the year 2014, the Novogratz family moved to Los Angeles, where they flipped a home in the Hollywood Hills. In addition, they sell boutique hotels and are well known for designing Hotel Dylan, LULU's at the W Hoboken, Bungalow Hotel, and Timber Cove.

Novogratz also has contracts with CB2, The Shade Store, Walmart, Wayfair, Amazon, and Overstock, where they sell their product lines.

On TV

Cortney Novogratz, with her family, was cast in the Bravo TV show 9 By Design. The show, which was first named Sixx Design, followed the lives of the Novogratz family in Manhattan – raising seven children while running a design company. The show ran for one season.

In 2011, Robert Novogratz and Cortney Novogratz once again had their own reality show on HGTV- Home by Novogratz. The show ran for two seasons and included property renovations of celebrities such as Wendy Williams, Pioneer Woman, and Tony Hawk.

Cortney Novogratz has co-authored several books- Downtown Chic (2009), Home by Novogratz (2012), Beachside Bohemian: Easy Living By the Sea - A Designer Couple's Refuge for Family and Friends (2016).
