Dan Hurley is a college basketball coach by profession and American by nationality. He is the head coach at the University of Connecticut’s UConn Huskies men's team, having previously coached at Wagner College and the University of Rhode Island.

Like their father, Bobby is also a college basketball coach and former basketball player. He played for Duke, and Sacramento Kings and is the head coach at Arizona State University.

College Sports
While a high student, Hurley played basketball where his father was a longtime coach. As a senior, he led his team to a No. 2 national ranking. He played five years of college basketball - including a redshirt year.
Coach
From 2001 to 2010, Dan Hurley was a head coach at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School. He has been credited with building the high school team into one of the high school basketball programs in the United States.
For two years, from 2010 to 2012, he worked as the head coach at Wagner College. There he pulled the team to single-season win-loss record at 25–6.
Hurley went on to become the head coach at the University of Rhode Island from 2012 to 2018 and was able to bring the team to the 2017 and 2018 NCAA tournaments.
Dan Hurley turned down the offer from the University of Rhode Island to work at the University of Connecticut Huskies. In June 2023, he signed a six-year, $32.1 million contract extension with the university.

In 2024, Dan Hurley was named the Naismith College Coach of the Year and was awarded the Sporting News National Coach of the Year Award.
