Who is Danny Ainge?
Danny Ainge is a basketball executive, former basketball and baseball player by profession, and American by nationality.
He played for Boston Celtics, Toronto Blue Jays, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, and Phoenix Suns. Currently, he is the general manager and President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics.

Danny Ainge’s birth took place on March 17, 1959, in Eugene, Oregon, USA. He was born Daniel Ray Ainge to his mother Don Ainge Sr. and his father Kay Ainge. He is not the only child of his parents and has three siblings- brothers Doug Ainge Jr., David Ainge, and sister Laurie Ainge.

For education, Danny Ainge joined North Eugene High School. After graduation, he studied at Brigham Young University (BYU) from 1977 to 1981. He played football, basketball, and baseball in high school and basketball in university.

Ainge married his longtime girlfriend on 30 March 1979 on Michelle Toolson. He and his wife have welcomed six children together- sons Austin, Crew, Cooper, and Tanner Ainge and daughters Ashley, and Taylor Ainge.
Their son Austin Ainge is director of player personnel for the Boston Celtics, having played basketball at BYU. Danny Ainge is happily married without no rumors of extra-marital affairs and divorce.

Before fame
Ainge was selected by Toronto Blue Jays in baseball's 1977 amateur draft of the Major League Baseball (MBL). In his college baseball career, he had a hit of .220, 2 home runs, and 146 hits in 211 games.
After three years with the team, he decided to pursue a career in basketball.

Played for
In the 1981 NBA draft, he was chosen by the Boston Celtics. While on the team, he played against Atlanta Hawks, and Houston Rockets, among others. In 1989, he was traded to Sacramento Kings and to Portland Trail Blazers in 1990.
Danny Ainge became a free agent after the 1991–92 season and soon signed a contract with Phoenix Suns on July 1, 1992, which was his first day as a free agent. He retired during the 1994–95 season. In 1999 he was inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.

After retirement
Since retiring, he has worked as head coach of the Phoenix Suns in 1996, as Executive Director of Basketball Operations for Boston Celtics in 2003, and as a commentator for the NBA on TNT. He became the general manager of the Boston Celtics in April 2017.
In May 2019 it was reported that he had a mild heart attack and is recovering from it. This is his second heart attack, his first being in 2009.
