In theatre
D'Silva played saxophone since he was in his late teens. He was part of the 80's Sheffield music scene and played for more than a decade with The Anti Group and Hula before becoming an actor in the late 1980s.
In 1991 he joined Drama Centre London where he honed his acting skills. Darrell D'Silva joined the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1996. His debut play was in Steven Pimlott's production of Tennessee Williams's Camino Real as Kilroy. He has been working for the company since then, having been made Associate Artist in 2011. Some of his most noted roles via RSC include the plays The Rose Tattoo, Royal Hunt of The Sun, and Closer.

Films, TV Series
D'Silva made his TV debut in 1994 in the TV mini-series Faith. Since then he has appeared in the TV series Out of the Blue (1995-1996), Queen of Swords (2001), MI-5 (2005), Criminal Justice (2008), Top Boy (2013), Endeavour (2013), Game of Thrones (2016), Strike Back (2017-2018), and Domina (2021), to name a few.
He has also portrayed characters in the TV movies Prime Suspect: The Scent of Darkness (1995), Lawless (2004), Saddam's Tribe: Bound by Blood (2007), among others, and films Dirty Pretty Things (2002), The Show (2020), Wrath of Man (2021), etc.
