Doan’s interest in acting started at the age of 9, and a year later, she began technical training in dance. Throughout her adult years, she worked as a dancer, performing in the Opening Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver as well as a backup dancer for Michael Bublé.

Her other notable work includes as a dancer in music videos for Big Time Rush and Marianas Trench. Moreover, she has worked on Fox's hit franchise So You Think You Can Dance.
