Don Gilet’s birth took place on 17 January 1967 in Walsall, Staffordshire, West Midlands, England, UK as Donald Samuel Gillett. His mother’s name is Thelma (née Hobson) Gilet, and his father’s name is Lenford Gilet. He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings, both older sisters, whose identity remains undisclosed.

For education, Don Gilet attended the Whitehall Junior School before studying at the Blue Coat Church of England Academy. He went on to enroll at the Caldmore Gospel Hall in Caldmore. Following graduation, he went to Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Gilet’s debut screen role was as Gerard in a 1993 episode of the TV series Desmond's. This was followed by roles in the TV series Demob (1993), The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show (1994), Casualty (2001), Time Gentlemen Please (2002), and Cutting It (2002), among others.

Finally, Don Gilet was cast as Johnny Lindo in the TV series Babyfather. He portrayed the character for a total of 12 episodes, between 2001 and 2002, and is considered his breakthrough role.
