Ella Purnell is an English actress by profession. She was best known for playing in the films Churchill, Army of the Dead, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and the TV series Sweetbitter.

Ella Purnell was born in the Tower Hamlets borough of London on 17 September 1996. Her mother's name is Suzy Purnell and her father's name is Simon Reid. 

Soon after her parent's divorce, her father Simon Reid married a woman named Isabelle and had three sons, Enzo Reid, Noa Reid, and Leon Reid. Her mother went on to marry another man named Jon Squirrell. Ella is also close to all of her half-three brothers.

Early days

Before movies, Ella Purnell attended a weekly class of studying acting, singing, and dancing at Sylvia Young Theatre School. Purnell got her first stage role in the year 2008 at The Theater Royal in London where she landed a role in Oliver!.

Her debut screen role was in the 2010 film Never Let Me Go as young Ruth. This was followed by appearances in the films Intruders (2011), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), Maleficent (2014), etc. Purnell's role as Emma Bloom in the 2016 fantasy film Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children gained her much recognition.

Since then Ella Purnell has starred in the films Churchill (2017) as Helen Garrett, UFO (2018) as Natalie, and in the 2021 Netflix film Army of the Dead as Kate Ward.

Other TV films in which she has been credited include Cyberbully (2015) as Megan, Sweetbitter (2018-2019) as Tess, Belgravia (2020) as Lady Maria Grey, etc.
