Fatboy Slim’s birth took place on 31 July 1963 in Bromley, Kent, England. He was born Quentin Leo Cook and was raised in Reigate, Surrey, England. He has a sibling, a sister named Julie but the name and details of his parents are not known.

Fatboy Slim married Zoë Ball, a TV personality 20 August 1999 at Babington House in Somerset attended by hundreds of friends and family members. They had first met when they were working at BBC Radio 1. The couple welcomed their son Woody Fred Cook on 15 December 2000.

In January 2003, he and his wife separated because of Ball’s affair with Fatboy Slim’s close friend Dan Peppe. But three months later they reconciled. On 14 January 2010, they became parents for the second time as Ball gave birth to their daughter Nelly May Lois. In 2015, Ball was pictured kissing boyband singer TayTay Starhz in a London gay club. 

After 18 years together, the couple announced their separation on 24 September 2016 followed by divorce. In October 2018, Dailymail reported that he was dating Ball’s close friend Nicola Lokko.

Fatboy Slim – Career

Before fame

Fatboy Slim’s career began a few years before he was 18 and was the lead vocalist in Disque Attack. At the University, he began to develop his skills in DJing, often practicing on the thriving Brighton club scene under the stage name DJ Quentox. He recalled to Hello

"I was a white bloke who liked dance music or 'black music' as it was called back then. I wanted to make black music without sounding like Simply Red."

In 1985, he joined the band The Housemartins as the bassist and soon released the hit single Happy Hour followed by two albums London 0 Hull 4 and The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death. The album peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart and reached number one just before Christmas 1986 with the single Caravan of Love.

But the band separated in 1988 and Fatboy Slim moved back to Brighton to pursue his interest genre of music.

He has released several studio albums over the years including Better Living Through Chemistry (1996), You've Come a Long Way, Baby (1998), Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars (2000), and Palookaville (2004).

Fatboy Slim has also collaborated with bands Beats International (1989–1992), The Brighton Port Authority (2008–present), Freak Power (1993–1996), and Pizzaman (1993– 1997).

In addition, he also appeared in the 1999 documentary Tripping.
