Growing up she was a “die-hard musical theatre kid” but later shifted to acting after high school and trained in Opera. She has played Apple in Tiisetso Mashifane wa Noni’s State of the Art and played Andromache in Charles Duncombe’s Trojan Women.

Since starting her career, Sholto-Douglas’ debut appearance was in the 2015 short film In the Rough. This was followed by appearances in the TV series documentaries No Man Left Behind (2016), Killer Instinct with Chris Hansen (2016), the TV movie The Dating Game Killer (2017), the film Samson (2018), and in an episode of TV series Blood Drive (2017).

Finally, in 2018 Frances Sholto-Douglas was cast as Helen's Handmaiden in three episodes of the TV series Troy: Fall of a City. Although the role is not considered her breakthrough, it did launch her career.
