Gaby Espino was born as María Gabriela Espino Rugero on November 15, 1976, in Caracas, Venezuela. Her mother’s name is Mariela Rugero while her father’s name is unknown. 

Her parents worked as chemical engineers and a publicist. When she was a little girl, her parents divorced and later remarried their significant others. She has a younger sibling, a sister named Andreina Espino Rugero.

Espino also has two paternal half-brothers named Gustavo Espino and Mariano Espino and a maternal half-sister named Nelly Espino.

Espino has been in numerous high-profile relationships with Pablo Montero, Juan Alfonso Baptista (1996 - 2001), and Jorge Reyes (2002 - 2005).

Gaby Espino began a relationship with Venezuelan actor Cristobal Lander in 2007 and got married to her boyfriend on June 14, 2007. 

Next year on July 9, 2008, they welcomed their daughter Oriana Lander. While married to Lander, she was rumored to be romantically involved with her co-star, Jencarlos Canela. The rumors of the 2009 affair affected her marriage to Lander but both Espino and Canela denied these rumors.

In early 2010, Gaby Espino and her husband separated but soon reconciled in November 2010. But they could not make their marriage work and they divorced in March 2011.

After the divorce rumors circulated that she was dating Canela. In September 2011, Canela and Espino confirmed their relationship and also announced they were expecting their first child together. Their son Nickolas Canela Espino was born on February 12, 2012. But this relationship too could not last. The couple decided to part ways which was announced on August 26, 2014. 

She also dated Arap Bethke from 2016 to 2017 and Jaime Augusto Mayol from 2018 to 2020. As of now, Espino seems to be single without any boyfriend. She is focused on her career and on raising her children.

Early Career

Initially, Gaby Espino thought of becoming a veterinarian, as she very much loved animals. She later changed her mind and decided to study dentistry. Gaby Espino again changed her mind a took an interest in public relations. Finally, she chose to become an actress.

Acting

Gaby Espino has been active as an actress since 1996. The same year she had moved to Miami. Her first roles were in TV shows such as Nubeluz (1995-1996), A todo corazón (1997), Enamorada (1999), Amantes de Luna Llena (2000), Guerra de mujeres (2001), Las González (2002), Rebeca (2003), Luna, la heredera (2004).

In 2005, Gaby Espino got an opportunity to star in the film La mujer de mi hermano as Laura/Lara. She then went on to star in movies such as Elipsis (2006), Más sabe el diablo: El primer golpe (2010), ¡He matado a mi marido! (2018).

Gaby Espino’s more works in TV series are Mundo de fieras (2006-2007), El rostro de Analía (2008-2009), Ojo por ojo (2010), Santa Diabla (2013-2014), Señora Acero (2016-2018), Jugar con fuego (2019), among others.
