Haaz Sleiman was born on July 1, 1976, in Beirut, Lebanon. He was born to a Muslim family and was raised there. He and his family emigrated to the USA when he was 21 years old. Not much has been shared about his family including his parents nor his siblings.

Following graduation from college in Michigan, he moved to New York City where he pursued a career in acting. His professional acting debut was in the 2003 off-Broadway production of The Joys of Lipstick. This was followed by roles in the films The Ski Trip (2004), American Dreamz (2006), and in the episode(s) of TV series ER (2006), 24 (2006), NCIS (2007), Veronica Mars (2007), etc.

Finally, Sleiman’s role as Tarek in the film The Visitor earned him several prestigious nominations and is considered his breakthrough role.

Over the years Haaz Sleiman has starred in the films AmericanEast (2008), Highland Park (2012), Those People (2015), Breaking Fast (2020), and Eternals (2021). He portrayed the main character Mohammed "Mo-Mo" de la Cruz in season one of the TV series Nurse Jackie (2009). 

Sleiman has also been credited for appearing in the episode(s) of CSI: Miami (2011), Covert Affairs (2012, 2015), Allegiance (2015), Of Kings and Prophets (2016), Jack Ryan (2018), name a few.
