Ian Hecox is a comedian, YouTube star, and social media influencer. He is well known as the member and founder of the popular comedy group Smosh alongside Anthony Padilla.

Ian Hecox’s birth took place on November 30, 1987, in Sacramento, California, USA. He was born Ian Andrew Hecox to father Stephan Andrew Hecox and mother Sharon Hecox, who is a recurring character on the Smosh channel.
He was raised by his parents alongside two siblings. Hecox had claimed that his brother Adrian Hecox Hendrix died in a motorcycle accident, though this is believed to be a hoax. He also has another sibling- a sister named Melissa Hecox.

For education, he attended Del Campo High School and graduated from American River College. His ethnicity includes English, Portuguese, Scottish, German, and Dutch.

Ian Hecox was in a relationship with Melanie Moat from 2007 to 2014. After they broke up, he began dating Pamela Horton in 2015. He and his girlfriend too ended their relationship in 2018.
Currently, he is considered single, sans wife and children. As he has never married, divorce is out of context.

Early days
Hecox met his future comedic partner Anthony Padilla while in the sixth grade. In 2002 he joined Padilla and worked together to post videos on smosh.com. Others also posted videos on the site including now YouTuber TomSka.
They began to post videos on Smosh's YouTube in 2005 and their fame rapidly increased. The duo has been writing directing and videos on Smosh's YouTube tarring in their comedy sketches. Their videos also include lip-syncing the theme songs to Mortal Kombat, Power Rangers, Pokémon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Career takes off
After 2006 their channel content began to diversify including the annual video series Food Battle and That Damn Neighbor. In January 2010 Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla launched Smosh Pita and three Smosh-based web series- Smosh Is Bored, Ask Charlie, and Lunchtime with Smosh.
Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla started three new YouTube channels, ElSmosh Shut Up! Cartoons, and Smosh Games in 2012.
They have also released 4 albums - Sexy Album (2010), If Music Were Real (2011), Smoshtastic (2012), and The Sweet Sound of Smosh (2013).

Changes in Smosh
But in June 2017 Padilla announced that he was leaving Smosh due to a "lack in creative freedom" and in November 2018 Defy Media announced that they were shutting down Smosh.
On the other hand, Ian Hecox announced that Smosh would not be shutting down and is looking for a new owner. On February 22, 2019, Smosh was acquired by Mythical Entertainment.
Currently, there are 10 Smosh YouTube channels but only seven have scheduled content. Its main channels include Smosh, Smosh Games, Smosh Pit, ElSmosh, and SmoshCast while the inactive channels are AskCharlie, Smosh Games Alliance (SGA), and Shut Up! Cartoons, Smosh France.
