Who is Jake Picking?

Jake Picking is an actor by profession and American by nationality. He is best known for starring in the TV series Hollywood as Rock Hudson and in the films Patriots Day, and Top Gun: Maverick.

Jake Picking was born on March 2, 1991, in Erlangen, Germany. His father, who was a member of the United States Army from West Point, was stationed there. However, some have claimed that he was born in Massachusetts.

Early Days

During Picking’s short career as a hockey player in college, he appeared in an NHL commercial. After his high school math teacher encouraged him to try out acting, Jake Picking took lessons with casting agent Carolyn Pickman. She had represented Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. 

Following a series of auditions, he finally landed his debut role as Chad in the 2013 film The Way, Way Back. This was followed by roles in the films Dirty Grandpa (2016), Goat (2016), Patriots Day (2016) as Sean Collier, and in the episode(s) of the TV series Ironside (2013), Chasing Life (2014), etc.

Over the years Jake Picking has starred in the films Only the Brave (2017), Blockers (2018), Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018), Horse Girl (2020), and Top Gun: Maverick (2021). Moreover, he is well known for portraying the main character Rock Hudson in the Netflix series Hollywood.
