Jessie Buckley’s birth occurred on 28 December 1989 in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland. She was born to her mother Marina Cassidy, a vocal coach, and her father Tim Buckley. She is not the only child of her parents and has four younger siblings. Her sisters are named Lily, Julie, and Eva, and her brother is named Killian Buckley.

For education, she attended Ursuline Secondary School, The Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS) workshops, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, Dubin, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London, graduating in 2013 with a BA in Acting.

Jessie Buckley was in a relationship with actor James Norton from 2015 to 2017. They had broken up after two years of dating. 

Norton has now moved on with actress Imogen Poots who he had first met while starring as a couple in the play Belleville at London’s Donmar Warehouse. 

Currently, Buckley is believed to be single, although a secret romance cannot be ruled out. She is sans husband and children and as she has never been married, divorce is out of context.

Early Days

Buckley competed in the BBC TV talent show I'd Do Anything, which searched for an unknown lead to portray Nancy in the British musical Oliver!. She finished in second place, losing to Jodie Prenger. 

After the competition, she went on to star in a 2008 revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music Anne Egerman. She has also played in the theatre production of The Tempest as Miranda, in Gabriel as Arabella Hunt as well as Kate.

In the TV series, Jessie Buckley has guest appearances on Endeavour (2014), War & Peace (2016), Taboo (2017), The Woman in White (2018), Chernobyl (2019), and Fargo (2020). 

She has also starred in films Beast (2017), Wild Rose (2018), Judy (2019), Dolittle (2020), Ironbark (2020), Misbehaviour (2020), and the upcoming film I'm Thinking of Ending Things.
