Jessie Reyez is a Grammy-nominated singer, and songwriter by profession, and Canadian by nationality. She rose to fame with her hit EP Kiddo and has released her debut album Before Love Came to Kill Us.

Jessie Reyez’s birth took place on June 12, 1991, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was born to her father German Reyez, a former guitarist, and her mother Carmen Reyez. She is not the only child of her parents and has two siblings – a younger sister and a brother.
Although Jessie Reyez was born in Toronto she was raised in Brampton. Growing up she was introduced to the guitar by her father and went on to play guitar and write her own music through high school.

Following graduation from high school, she opted out of college and chose to pursue a career in music while doing odd jobs. In 2012 the Reyez family moved to Florida where she worked as a bartender. After she was accepted to The Remix Project's Academy of Recording Arts, she returned to Toronto in 2014.

Early Days
Jessie Reyez released her singles Living in the Sky and It Hurts (Selena) in 2014 and 2015 respectively. Her third single Shutter Island was released in early 2017 and the same year she landed the opportunity to open for PartyNextDoor on the Europe tour.
She released her debut EP Kiddo and her short film Gatekeeper in April 2017. The film addressed sexism and exploitation in the music industry while her EP earned her nominations for numerous awards including four Juno Awards -R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Breakthrough Artist, Video of the Year, and Juno Fan Choice Award.
