Moore’s debut role was in the 1996 film Foxfire. After moving to Los Angeles in 2000, he landed roles in TV commercials including ones for eBay, Cingular Wireless, Best Buy, XELIBRI. He eventually landed minor roles in the films Drug Wars, The High Times (2000), Raising Genius (2004), etc.
Joel David Moore’s major film role was as Owen Dittman in the 2004 film DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story. This was followed by appearances in the films Grandma's Boy (2006), Hatchet (2006), El Muerto (2007), Wieners (2008), among others. Moreover, his role as Mason in the 2007 film Spiral, which was also his directional debut, earned him wide recognition.
Meanwhile, Moore also had guest appearances in the episode(s) of the TV series Boston Public (2001-2002), Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (2003), LAX (2004-2005), E-Ring (2005-2006), to name a few.
