Who is Joel Schiffman?

Joel Schiffman is in finance by profession and American by nationality. He was engaged to Today Show anchor Hoda Kotb and together they have adopted daughters Haley Joy Kotb and Hope Catherine Kotb into their family.

Joel Schiffman’s birth took place on March 21, 1958, in the USA. For education, he went to the University of California from 1976 to 1981. There he studied economics and was a player on the ACLA rugby team.

Joel Schiffman began to date Today Show anchor Hoda Kotb in 2013. Together with his longtime girlfriend, Joel Schiffman has adopted two daughters. The adoption of Haley Joy Kotb was announced on February 21, 2017, while Hope Catherine Kotb’s adoption was announced on April 16, 2019, via a phone call to the Today Show.

In November 2019 Schiffman proposed to Hoda to which she said yes. The couple is now engaged to be married.

After sharing in October 2020 that they are in the process of adopting a third child, Kotb revealed in July 2021 that the adoption process has been very slow due to the pandemic.

Moreover, in January 2022, it was confirmed that Kotb and Schiffman had broken up after eight years together.

Joel Schiffman also has a daughter named Kyle Schiffman (born in 1996) from a previous marriage. His daughter is a student in Paris, France, and is close to Hoda. As for Hoda, she was married to former University of New Orleans tennis coach Burzis Kanga from December 2005 to March 2007.

Joel Schiffman – Career

Joel Schiffman has found success in finance. He worked as Senior Vice President at Kidder Peabody from 1987 to 1994 followed by work with Smith Barney as Consulting Group Director. He held the position for 9 years- from 1994 to 2003. 

Since then Schiffman has worked with Trail Ridge Capital (2003-2005), Reed, Connor & Birdwell (2005-2008), Lord, Abbett & Co. LLC (2007-2013), Columbia Management (2013-2015), Janus Henderson Investors U.S. (2015-2019).

Currently, Joel Schiffman works as Head of US Defined Contribution and Insurance Sales at Schroder Investment Management and has been working since January 2019.
