John Cho is an actor by profession, Korean and American by nationality. He is best known for his role in Harold & Kumar and Star Trek films.

John Cho’s birth took place as Cho Yo Han on Seoul, South Korea. He was born on June 16, 1972, to Korean parents. His mother is South Korean while his father is originally from North Korea. He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, a brother.
In 1978, he moved with his family to the United States. The family moved to Houston, Seattle, Daly City, California and Monterey Park, California before finally settling to Los Angeles, where he grew up.
For education, he attended Herbert Hoover High School, graduating in 1990. He then enrolled at the University of California and graduated from the same in 1996 with a BA degree in English.

Soon after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, he moved to Los Angeles. John Cho taught English at Pacific Hills School while also working at the East West Players' theater. There he appeared in The Taste of Kona Coffee in 1996 and My Tired Broke Ass Pontificating Slapstick Funk in 2000.
In 1999, John Cho landed a minor role in American Pie, in which he popularized the slang term MILF. He reprised his role in three sequels: American Pie 2, American Wedding, and American Reunion.
Soon he starred in Better Luck Tomorrow (2002), Big Fat Liar (2002), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay (2008), A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (2011), The Singles Table (2006), Star Trek film series (2009, 2013, 2016), Grudge (2020), Tigertail (2019), to name a few.
In TV series, he has appeared in Off Centre (2001-2002), Kitchen Confidential (2005-2006), Flash Forward (2009-2010), Go On (2012-2013), Sleepy Hollow (2013-2014), The Exorcist (2017), among many others.
He is also the lead singer of Viva La Union (formerly known as Left of Zed) and has released one self-titled album. In April 2019, it was announced that Cho has been cast in Netflix's Cowboy Bebop Live-Action Series.
