Macmillan made his screen debut in two episodes of the TV series Hustle (2009) as Harry Fielding. This was followed by guest roles in the films Heartless (2009), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), World War Z (2013), Maleficent (2014), Fury (2013), Carnage (2017), King Lear (2018), The Dig (2021), Seize Them!, among others.
