Jon-Michael Ecker’s birth took place on March 16, 1983, in San Marcos, Texas, USA. His full name is Jon-Michael William Ecker, his father is Brazilian actor Guy Ecker while the name of his American mother is not known. 

His former stepmother is an American singer and actress Nia Peeples. From his father’s second marriage to Mexican-American actress Estela Sainz, he has three half-siblings.

Early Days

Although Ecker studied marine biology in college, he chose to follow the same path as his father. To start his career as an actor, he moved to Mexico City. There he guest starred in episdoes of TV series Niña de mi corazón (2010), El Equipo (2011), La fuerza del destino (2011), etc.

He has portrayed the main character Ari Morales in Popland! (2011), Pablo Peralta in Corazón valiente (2012-2013), Nicolás "Nico" de la Vega in Gossip Girl: Acapulco (2013). He played American actor and film director Marlon Brando in the 2014 film Cantinflas.

After a successful run in Mexican telenovela, Jon-Michael Ecker returned to the USA in 2014.

In Hollywood, Ecker’s debut role was in a 2015 episode of the TV series Narcos. This was followed by guest appearances in NCIS: New Orleans (2016), Criminal Minds (2017), Sideswiped (2018), and a recurring role in Narcos (2015-2016), Chicago Fire (2021), Firefly Lane (2021).

Jon-Michael Ecker was cast as the main character El Güero in seasons 1 to 3 of the crime drama series Queen of the South (2016-2018). He reprised his role as a guest star in season 4 of the series in 2019.
