Who is Josh Thomson?
Josh Thomson is an actor, a stand-up comedian by profession, and a New Zealander by nationality. He is best known for starring in the TV series Young Rock, Wellington Paranormal, The New Legends of Monkey, and as the TV host of the show The Project.
Josh Thomson – Age, Parents, Siblings
Josh Thomson’s birth took place on March 8, 1981, in New Zealand. His mother Soana Thomson was of Tongan descent while his ex-engineer father David Thomson is of Scottish descent. His parents raised him on a family farm in Timaru alongside two older brothers whose names are not yet known to the public.
Education, Ethnicity
For education, Josh Thomson attended the boarding school- Timaru Boys' High School. Following graduation in 1999, he joined the University of Otago the same year where he studied Theatre and Film Studies, graduating from the same in 2002.
His ethnicity includes Scottish and Tongan.

In 2006, Thomson met Elizabeth McGlinn at an acting class and was paired with her for a dramatic seduction scene. They eventually began to date after she approached him. He married his girlfriend after years of dating in 2014 on their family farm.
After three miscarriages, his wife gave birth to a daughter Soana Ann Rose Thomson in April 2018. They welcomed their second child- son George Kiola William Merry Thomson on March 7, 2020. The couple seems to be happy with their growing family and there are no rumors of divorce surrounding the pair.

Early Days
Thomson had always been recognized for his sense of humor. After graduating from college, he started doing stand-up comedy in order to “meet girls and party." He eventually met coach Michael Saccente who advised Josh Thomson to pursue comedic acting. Thus he competed in a Dunedin comedy contest- got through the finals, and was even offered a spot on the stand-up show Pulp Comedy.
In 2003, he moved to Auckland to pursue his career as an actor and stand-up comedian.
Films, TV Series
Josh Thomson’s debut screen role was in the 2007 film The Devil Dared Me To as Chip Butler. This was followed by minor appearances in the films My Wedding and Other Secrets (2011), Gary of the Pacific (2017), etc and in the TV series Welcome to Paradise (2007), The Jaquie Brown Diaries (2009), Hounds (2012), Short Poppies (2014), Terry Teo (2016), The Barefoot Bandits (2016-2017), among others.
Finally, in 2018, he was cast as Pigsy in the TV series The New Legends of Monkey. He played the role for a total of 20 episodes and is considered his breakthrough role.
Since then, Thomson has appeared in the TV series Inside (2020), Educators (2020), Young Rock (2021-2022), Good Grief (2021-2022), Kiri and Lou (2019-2020), to name a few. He has also starred in the films How to Please a Woman (2022) and Don't Make Me Go (2022).
