Julian Dennison was born on 26 October 2002 in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. He is the third of four siblings. His non-identical twin brother is named Christian Dennison, while details of his two older siblings are not known. His mother, Mabelle Dennison, has begun to work as an actress, while the profession of his father, Wayne Dennison, is not known.

For education, Julian Dennison attended Naenae Primary School and later Hutt International Boys' School.

Early Days

Dennison auditioned for a role in the film Shopping. He landed the role of Solomon in the film, which was released in 2013. This was followed by the role of Kevin in the Australian film Paper Planes (2015). His next major work was in an advertisement for the NZ Transport Agency targeted to discourage people from driving under the influence of drugs. The public service announcement, which was directed by Taika Waititi, became an internet sensation in both New Zealand and Australia.

Waititi also cast Julian Dennison without the need to audition in his film Hunt for the Wilderpeople, released in 2016. The film was a massive success as it became New Zealand's highest-grossing film to date. This role is considered his breakthrough role in his career.
