Kelvin Harrison Jr.’s birth took place on July 23, 1994, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. He was born to his father Kelvin Harrison Sr. and his mother Shirlita Harrison, who are both musicians.
He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings, sisters who are twins (born June 1, 1998). His sisters are Kortlen "Kort" Harrison and Katy "Kay" Harrison, who is now a nurse. Harrison grew up in the Garden District and later moved to Westbank.

Following graduation from his high school, Isidore Newman School, he joined the University of New Orleans and Loyola University New Orleans to study studio engineering and marketing. But he dropped out and moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. He also took classes at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.

Early Days
After moving to Los Angeles he began taking acting classes. His first credited role was in the 2013 film 12 Years a Slave where he played Victim 2. He went on to star in numerous films including A Sort of Homecoming (2015), The Birth of a Nation (2016), and Mudbound (2017).
Finally, he was cast as Travis in the horror film It Comes at Night, which is considered his breakthrough role.
