Kevin O'Leary is a businessman, author, and TV personality by profession, and Canadian, Irish by nationality. He is well known for his appearances on Shark Tank, Project Earth, and Dragons' Den and is the co-founder of O'Leary Funds and SoftKey.

Kevin O’Leary’s birth took place on 9 July 1954 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was born Terence Thomas Kevin O'Leary to his father Terry O'Leary, a salesman, and his mother Georgette O'Leary, a small-business owner and investor.
He is not the only child of his parents and has a sibling, a brother named Shane O'Leary. After his parents divorced, they were raised by their mother and stepfather.

Business
After completing his internship at Nabisco, he worked for a brief time as a television producer. With Scott Mackenzie and Dave Toms, Kevin O'Leary co-founded Special Event Television (SET).
After selling his share of SET, he started a company in a basement in 1986 called Softkey Software Products, which published and distributed CD-ROM-based personal computer software for Windows and Macintosh computers. He sold the company to Mattel Toy Company for $3.7 billion in 1999.

He has also worked with other companies. In 2003, Kevin O'Leary became a co-investor and director at StorageNow Holdings and joined Genstar Capital in March 2007. Moreover, he has also founded O'Leary Ventures, O'Leary Mortgages, O'Leary Books, and O'Leary Fine Wines.
