Kim Fields is an actress, and TV director by profession, and American by nationality. Being the daughter of actress Chip Fields, she is well known for starring in The Facts of Life as Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey, and in Living Single as Regine Hunter.

Kim Fields’ birth occurred on May 12, 1969, in New York City, New York, USA. She was born Kim Victoria Fields to her mother Chip Fields, an actress, and her father Tony Fields. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling, younger sister Alexis Fields, who is also an actress.
After her parents divorced, her mother went on to marry Erv Hurd, a technical director.

Following graduation from Burbank High School in 1986, Kim Fields went on to study at Pepperdine University. She graduated in 1990 with a degree in telecommunications.

Kim Fields started her career very young. Between 1977 and 1979, she had guest appearances in the TV movie Have I Got a Christmas for You and the TV series Baby, I'm Back (1978), Good Times (1978-1979), Diff'rent Strokes (1979-1981), Roots: The Next Generations (1976).
In 1979 Fields was cast in the sitcom The Facts of Life as Dorothy 'Tootie' Ramsey. She portrayed the character until 1988, for a total of 202 episodes.
