Charles began training in Shotokan Karate when he was 6 years old. He played for Everton, Tranmere, and was signed by Wrexham. However, after suffering an injury, his contract with the football team was terminated.

Lee Charles continued to train in martial arts and is now a six-time World Kickboxing Champion. He has now trained in numerous fighting styles - Kickboxing, Wushu, Taekwondo, and Karate (Kempo, Shotokan).

After moving to the United States to pursue a career in acting, he met actor, choreographer, and martial artist Benny Urquidez and soon became a member of Benny's stunt team.
