Ma Dong-seok is an actor by profession and American, Korean by nationality. He is best known for his role in the 2016 South Korean film Train to Busan and in the 2021 Marvel Comics film Eternals.

Ma Dong-seok’s birth took place on March 1, 1971, in South Korea. His full name is Lee Dong-seok and his other name is Don Lee. Not much is known about his mother, father, or what his parents did for a living. Although not much has been shared about his early life, he has mentioned that he has a nephew, the son of his brother/sister.

He became an American citizen at 19 following his family’s emigration to the USA.

Ma Dong-seok started dating Ye Jung-hwa, a sports reporter and media personality, in 2016. His girlfriend is 17 years his junior. In October 2022, there were reports that he and Ye Jung-hwa had married in 2021 in a courthouse wedding. Dong-seok began his career as an actor in 2005. His first roles were in the films Heaven's Soldiers (2005), The Moonlight of Seoul (2008), Take Off (2009), Midnight FM (2010), The Unjust (2010), etc. He also has appearances in the episode(s) of the TV series H.I.T (2007), Robber (2008), Swallow the Sun (2009), and Dr. Champ (2010), to name a few.

Other films in which Ma Dong-seok has starred include Perfect Game (2011), Dancing Queen (2012), The Neighbor (2012), Rockin' on Heaven's Door (2013), Marriage Blue (2013), The Royal Tailor (2014), Deep Trap (2015). Finally, in 2016, his role of Sang-hwa in the film Train to Busan is considered his breakthrough role. His following film roles were in the films The Outlaws (2017), Along with the Gods: The Last 49 Days (2018), Ashfall (2019), and the Marvel Comic film Eternals (2021). 

Ma Dong-seok’s other TV series appearances are in  Me Too, Flower! (2011), Bad Guys (2014), Sense8 (2015), Squad 38 (2016), etc. Overall he has starred in 55 films and 11 TV series.
