Mahalia is a professional singer, songwriter, actress, and British national. She has released an album Diary Of Me, a couple of Eps, and acted in the film Brotherhood.

Mahalia’s birth took place on 1 May 1998 in Syston, UK. She was born as Mahalia Burkmar to a British-Irish father and a Jamaican mother, who were both songwriters.

She is not the only child of her parents and has three siblings- two older brothers and a younger brother. One of her older brothers is named Jamaal Burkmar, who worked as a choreographer while her younger brother is named Jude Mahalia.

Early Career

Growing up Mahalia spent her summer breaks at home writing music. She had written her first song at the age of eight and at the age of thirteen signed a deal with a major record label. She went viral in 2017 when she appeared on the YouTube channel COLORS.

Since starting her career in 2015 she has released three extended plays – Head Space (July 2012), Never Change (December 2015), and Seasons (September 2018). She also has released two studio albums – Diary of Me (December 2016) and Love and Compromise (September 2019).

Moreover, Mahalia has released dozens of singles including Back Up Plan, Begin Again, No Reply, and Grateful, among others. She has played Thea in the U.K. crime film Brotherhood (2016).
