Marissa Bode is an actress by profession and American by nationality. Although she has been disabled (paralyzed waist down), she has continued to embark on her career to become an actress. She is well known for her work in the film Wicked as Nessarose.

Marissa Bode was born on August 29, 2000, in Mazomanie, Wisconsin, USA. Her father Sean Bode is a Charles City native independent filmmaker while the profession of her mother Pal Bode remains undisclosed. She is not the only child of her parents and has a sibling – an older brother named Tristan Bode.

Following graduation from high school, Marissa Bode went on to study at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA). She graduated from the same in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in acting with honors.

In 2011, when Marissa Bode was just 11 years old, she was involved in a horrific accident. She and her mother, Pat, were on their way to practice for a Children’s Theater of Madison production in Madison when their car was rear-ended.
Bode’s mother only suffered minor injuries while Marrissa was ejected from the vehicle. The accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, spending 48 days in the hospital.
She is currently wheelchair-bound but has remained positive in life and future.

Marissa Bode is believed to be lesbian by sexuality. She is currently in a relationship with her girlfriend Lauren Brooks, who is also wheelchair-bound. Bode had pranked her family by claiming to be engaged and would soon get married to Brooks.

Early Days
Marissa Bode’s interest in acting began when she was eight years old. Her father, being a filmmaker supported her decision and her parents drove her to drama practice as well as auditions.
She has performed in local theatre productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Diviners, Peter Pan, and Mary Poppins.
Films, TV Series
Bode’s debut screen role was in the 2013 short film Carsleepers followed by the role of Kaliope in the 2019 short film No Roles Written. Since then she has landed the role of Nessarose in the 2024 film Wicked and the 2025 film Wicked: Part Two.
