Michael Blackson’s birth took place on November 28, 1972, in Ghana. His Ghanaian father worked in a theater company while his Liberian mother worked in a secondary school. The identity of his parents and siblings is not known. 

He moved to the United States at the age of 13. Growing up in Philadelphia, Blackson worked as a pizza delivery guy.

For education, Michael Blackson attended John Bartram High School. The detail of his higher education is not known.

Comedy

After a co-worker at a pizza place advised him to take his comedy to the stage, Michael Blackson took to the stage. His debut act as a comedian was at the Comedy Works in Philadelphia followed by performances in various clubs and bars. 

Blackson then started to compete in comedy competitions such as Laffapolooza Comedy Festival in Atlanta, Bay Area Black Comedy Competition (2001) in Oakland, and comedy tours including the 1993 Schlitz Malt Liquor Comedy Tour, the 1996 Urban Comedy Festival in New York City. After finding success as a comedian, he ventured into acting.

He has also released sketch-comedy Modasucka: Welcome to America (2005).

Michael Blackson was discovered by actor and director Ice Cube while performing at a Los Angeles comedy club. He landed a role in a film produced by Ice Cube’s production company Cubevision. His film credits include Next Friday (2000), Repos (2007), Meet the Blacks (2016), Coming 2 America (2020), and appearances in the TV show 30 Rock (2005), Bad Boys of Comedy, The Mo’Nique Show (2011), Are We There Yet?, Shaquille O'Neal All Star Comedy Jam, etc.
