Michiel Huisman began his career in 1995 with Voor hete vuren. He then landed a supporting role in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden, which gained him a considerable amount of recognition.
He was then cast in the TV series Spangen (1999-2002), Costa! (2001), Meiden van De Wit (2005), De co-assistant (2007-2010).
Since 2010, Michiel Huisman has starred in the TV series Bloedverwanten (2010), Treme (2010-2013), Nashville (2012-2014), Orphan Black (2014-2015), as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones (2014-2016), Harley and the Davidsons (2016), and the main role of Steven Crain in The Haunting of Hill House.
In TV series, he has portrayed roles in Full Moon Party (2002), The Young Victoria (2009), World War Z (2013), The Age of Adaline (2015), Irreplaceable You (2018), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (2018), The Red Sea Diving Resort (2018).
In addition to acting, Michiel Huisman is also a singer and guitarist. He was in the band Fontane and had released several singles in the early 2000s. Their singles were on the soundtrack of some films. After the band split, Huisman pursued a solo career.
