Who is Osric Chau?

Osric Chau is a professional actor, martial artist, and Canadian national. He is best known for starring in Supernatural as Kevin Tran and in Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency as Vogel. 

Osric Chau – Age, Parents, Siblings

Osric Chau’s birth took place on July 20, 1986, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was born to a Malaysian mother while his father is from Hong Kong. He is not the only child of his parents and has two siblings- a younger brother named Owen Chau, who is also a martial artist, and an older brother named Seb Chau.

Education, Ethnicity

Following graduation from high school, Osric Chau attended Beijing Sport University where he trained for seven months with the BSU Wushu Team in 2007. He had taken up martial arts in 2000 and studied it for eight years followed by enrollment in West Coast Chinese Martial Arts in Vancouver. 

His ethnicity is multi-ethnic (Chinese, Malaysian).

Early Days

In late 2007 Chau became a member of the Canadian National Wushu Team and had originally planned on being a stuntman rather than an actor. He had worked as a stuntman for EA Games before landing a major role in Kung Fu Killer (2008) opposite David Carradine and Daryl Hannah.

Since his debut film appearance, he has portrayed characters in the films 2012 (2009), Best Player (2011), The Man With The Iron Fists (2012), The Matchbreaker (2017), Status Update (2018), Empty by Design (2019), among others.

In TV series Osric Chau is well known for starring in Mister French Taste (2012), Supernatural (2012-2019) as Kevin Tran, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (2016-2017) as Vogel, and The Flash (2019), Arrow (2020), and Legends of Tomorrow (2020) as Ryan Choi.
